Raw and real, the Poetry Slam brings together bold voices and brilliant minds from across the community, competing live in front of the judges to claim the ultimate prize.
Packed with powerful performances that will make you laugh, cry, and cheer, this is a night you won’t want to miss. Grab your tickets and witness local poets battle it out for glory, one verse at a time. The mic waits for no one!
The Bible is full of extraordinary poetry, so have a go at writing and performing your own poems inspired by the Bible. Finalists will perform in front of a live audience and panel of expert judges who will score your slam. The poets with the highest scores win!
There are three age categories, with prizes for the winners of each:
Your poem has to be inspired by a Bible passage, story or theme. You can base your poem on one of the briefs provided, or you can find you own inspiration from the Bible. It must be no longer than 3 minutes long.

Once you’ve written your poem:
Practice it, bringing the words and their meaning to life.
Record a video of yourself performing your poem.
Complete the entry form and upload your video below.
Deadline for entries is 6pm on Wednesday 25 June.
Finalists will be notified on Thursday 26 June and invited to perform at the Poetry Slam event on Friday 27 June. All entrants receive a free ticket.
