The Bible in Four Minutes – The Bible Society
Exhibition Partners
Inviting people to see the Bible through fresh eyes and discover its life-changing message for themselves.
The Bible Society believe the Bible is God’s gift to the world. They want everyone to discover its message for themselves and make it accessible in people’s heart languages. They bring it into public spaces where its voice can be heard through the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast and The Pitch Film Fund. They encourage people who have never thought the Bible was for them to explore it for themselves and see life through a different lens.
The Bible Society has provided loads of great material for our exhibition, including displays, Bibles and extra reading for anyone who wants to find out more.
Promoting the knowledge and understanding of Tyndale’s Biblical translations and theological writings.
The Tyndale Society is all about helping people to discover the vital role William Tyndale played in the English Reformation, especially through his Bible translations and powerful writings. They support ongoing research, publish a journal, host talks, and are currently working on an app to make exploring his legacy easier. They’re always happy to welcome new members, so feel free to check out their website!
Much of the information about Tyndale in this exhibition has been provided by the society.
Bringing God’s word to communities worldwide in the language which speaks to them best.
Tyndale wasn’t actually the first to translate the Bible into English. That credit goes to John Wycliffe, who did it about 150 years earlier. He translated it into an older version of English, using Jerome’s Latin Bible as his source. Wycliffe was a powerful preacher who became an enemy of the Church by speaking and writing in English. His bold work has inspired generations of translators. Thanks to them, the Bible is now available in thousands of languages around the world.
Wycliffe Bible Translators will have a stand in the exhibition and we’ll be hearing more about their work in one of the lectures on Monday evening 23rd June.
